Chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday

I’ve been looking at the models this morning.  There’s a good chance we’ll see some rain and thunderstorms later today and overnight.  Our chance increases after 6PM and really gets moving after midnight.  Timing isn’t in my favor.

The risks are a little greater in western Oklahoma.  There’s a slight risk of tornadoes in the southwest corner of the state up to the Oklahoma panhandle.  Not a great risk, but I’d probably go chase if a similar setup were developing in my area.  At least I’d stage and be ready just in case something actually happened.

Tornado Probability for Saturday

Late this evening in Tulsa, we could see periods of heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail.  I’m not anticipating anything damaging, but a severe thunderstorm warning or two could pop up.

On the bright side, we do have a chance of a little beneficial rain.  The forecast suggests ¼ to ½” of rain is possible for Tulsa.  Possibly more southeast of here.

It’ll be cloudy through the day with a very slight risk for showers.  But I don’t see anything really happening until this evening.  We’ll struggle to see 50° this afternoon, so any rain that falls will be a cold rain.  Overnight lows should stay near 50°.

If you go out today, remember a coat and keep the umbrella handy.  Be aware of changing weather conditions tonight and make sure you have fresh batteries in your weather radio.  I’m not saying you’ll need it, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
