Chase chances are better than they have been

It’s Saturday and the dog got me up early this morning, so I’ve been looking at the models.  (I know, not much of shock there.)  The forecast is better than it has been, but it’s not great either.

There’s a slight risk for severe weather in western Oklahoma, but it’s not the best set-up and certainly not worth driving across the state to get to.  I think the best chance for today is going to be north-central Kansas and farther north.  Again, too far to travel for a “maybe” storm.

As the front moves eastward overnight, the chance of showers and thunderstorms moves into eastern Oklahoma.  So, for now anyway, I’m looking at Sunday for the possibility of a chase.  I’ll check the models this afternoon to see how things are shaping up.  We need some rain here and I’m not going to be terribly disappointed if all we end up with is rain showers.  That’ll be welcomed relief.

The system will hang with us into Monday, but then it’ll be a couple of days before the next possibility pops up.

On the bright side, If you’re planning to attend Tulsa’s Mayfest celebrations this weekend, today will probably be a great day to get out there.  Just remember to take the sun screen and drink plenty of water.  We should have mostly sunny skies with temps in the upper 80s.

Have a great day!
