Yesterday afternoon was spent tracking developing weather conditions in Arkansas. The NWS wasn’t taking this lightly either. They issued a PDS tornado watch for eastern Arkansas, northern Mississippi and western Tennessee. They were right to do so.

The storms began firing with a vengeance. Dallas county was the first report I picked up on. They were reporting trees and power lines down, and property damage. A woman was trapped in her home, but made it out okay. The Central Arkansas Skywarn group’s repeater was knocked out early in the game and getting information from Arkansas was difficult.

Once the storms moved out of Arkansas, things seemed to be calming down some. I headed to bed.

It wasn’t over yet.

The storms hit Alabama early this morning and continue to wage war. The Birmingham area has been struck by an EF 3. It has claimed lives and left areas flattened.

The outlook for today is for severe storms to continue in the SE. However, unless something changes, the risk is less for today – compared with yesterday.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this storm system.
