Rain and Thunderstorms not happening in Tulsa County

I’ve watched the models and radar since early this morning, in hopes something would develop in the Tulsa area.  Nada.  Nothing.

Shortly before 1pm, the NWS was actually talking about the possibility of a watch being issued in NE Oklahoma and included some discussion of an isolated tornado.  The info I was looking at, however, didn’t suggest that.

The showers forecast haven’t developed yet and anything severe appears to be over in Arkansas now, where a severe t-storm watch has been issued.

I noticed that some chasers had headed to Missouri around the Springfield area, but I’ve not received reports of anything more than some hail in Missouri.  A severe t-storm warning was issued for a very short time in Le Flore county, but the storm cells are moving fast (35 mph) and that warning didn’t last long.

A chance of rain and t-storms still exists for tonight between 7pm and 1am, results of the cold front moving though.  But I really doubt anything of substance is going to develop.

It’s still a little early in the year for severe weather in NE Oklahoma, but we usually get at least a couple of storms in March.  This year, we’ve had rain, but good storms have evaded us.  I keep reminding myself that the season doesn’t really start for another 4 weeks.  I’m ready, but Mom nature isn’t.
