The NY Times is reporting that Mullah Abdul Ghani, the Taliban’s top military commander, was captured several days ago in Karachi, Pakistan. The capture was credited to a joint operation by Pakistan and American forces. This could help explain the timing of the recent military surge on the southern town of Marjah, Afghanistan.
This is good news and a could be a major blow to the Taliban fighters.
