Heat index back in the forecast

After some milder days and rain brought to us by Isaac, heat index values will be a topic of discussion for the next few days.

Temperatures will once again hover near the 100° mark for the remainder of the weekend, then a gradual down-turn in temperature with a slight chance of rain by Thursday.  It appears that Mother Nature is reminding us that she can turn up the heat when she wants to.

On the bright side, if you’re enjoying the last long holiday of the summer at the lake, you’ll love the forecast for tomorrow and Monday.  Plenty of sunshine with warm temperatures should make boating and swimming enjoyable activities.  Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray.  You’ll need both.  Also, stay away from the green algae.  It’s getting folks sick.

It won’t be long until the forecasts turn to a fall pattern.  The leaves that are left after the terrible draught will be changing colors and fall-like temperatures will replace the blistering heat.  Hopefully we’ll see some rain too.

Have a great holiday weekend.  Stay safe and keep watching the weather.
