Heat wave continues

I had best of intensions to post this morning, I didn’t quite make it due to me taking a fall and breaking my wrist.  I ended up spending the day in the emergency room.

Thanks to all of you who sent me texts, posted on twitter and called.  I really do appreciate your words of encouragement.  It looks like I’ll require some surgery in the very near future to fix things, but, for now anyway, I’m home and doing okay.

Using one hand I’ll make an attempt to get this done.  This could take a while.  Ha!

The heat wave will be continuing for a while and I don’t see drought conditions improving either.

Over 63% of the country is being affected by the drought.  In Oklahoma, the entire state is experiencing moderate to extreme drought.  Forecasts indicate that this condition will continue through October.  Expect food prices to increase as farmers compensate for low yield of their crops.

Along with the lack of rain, temperatures will continue to be near 100 degrees or higher.  This has prompted the NWS to issue a new Excessive Heat Warning for the Tulsa area, effective until 7 p.m. on Wednesday.  We’re not alone in this.  The majority of the nation’s mid-section is under heat advisories or warnings.

Over the next few days, the Tulsa area will see temperatures near 100 or higher and heat index values between 102 and 105 degrees.  There’s a slight chance of rain on Thursday, but I don’t see anything major forming.

I wish I had better news, but it is what it is.  Be cautious when outdoors and continue to hope for cooler temperatures and precipitation.
