The saying here in Oklahoma is: if you don’t like the weather, stick around. It’s sure to change. That’s what’s happening now.
A couple days ago, I posted the forecast calling for cold weather and some rain this weekend, but it didn’t mention any winter precip. That changed yesterday. The models are indicating a shift in the pattern. We can now plan for the first snowfall of the winter season.
We’re still expecting rain this weekend, but that will change to snow on Monday. We can expect around 1-3″ of accumulation locally and higher amounts to the northeast of the Tulsa area. I hope you’re ready.
So, here’s the updated forecast from the National Weather Service:
Today: Rain, mainly after noon. High near 60. Breezy, with a south wind between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tonight: Rain likely before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 30. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 45. North northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Sunday Night: A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 31. North northeast wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Monday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a north wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
