Thursday’s Weather Update

It’s been a rocky day here in Green Country.  It started early this morning with tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings being issued.  As the day progressed a line of thunderstorms moved through NE Oklahoma dropping 2-3 inches of rain the Tulsa area, prompting the NWS to issue flood advisories and warnings.  Tornado warnings were issued for Hughes and Pushmataha counties later in the day.

The storms were widespread and I wasn’t able to pinpoint a defined target area to chase in.  So, I made the decision to monitor the storms from home.  A little dissapointed, but chasing rain isn’t on my “favorite things to do” list.

Although most of the rain and severe thunderstorms have moved out of the immediate area, we’re not out the the woods yet.  There’s still a chance of additional rainfall and severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.  A tornado watch remains in effect for several counties in eastern Oklahoma.
